In terms of 'idling at stops to keep the timetable running in check'.....nothing comes remotely close to the 660....the worst of the lot imho.
Took it the full length from Caboolture to Redcliffe today and it paused 1 minute on at least 10 stops.....and then a few of those were for two minutes.....its gotten progressively worse since the last time I did that trip..

All up I would say 15 minutes of idling.
Also confirmed with a regular user of the route who jumped on at morayfield shops and jumped off at sutton st Redcliffe....they said that today was actually a good day and it can get worse than that.  :-w :-w

Lets say this route is like this in both directions between 10.25am and 1.55pm.
That works out to approx. 200 minutes per day of idling which would be at least 65000 minutes per year/ 1085 hours/45 days wasted.
With idling numbers like that though it probably needs addressing and taken to a dynamic timetable in the offpeak.

There is an upgrade to another route right there....lets say double the current sunday service for the 663...

Techblitz I distinctly recall you making multiple posts in the past saying that your preferred timetables to have fat to ensure connections.

Hillarious that you are getting the consequences of that now :wi3

heh...hows this for hilarious then....
I will point you to two timetables on the 680...a route which i was continually calling for more fat coming into petrie.

I was repeatedly mentioning the counter-peak late running into petrie due to school traffic @
north lakes resulting in missed connections for myself.....and while talking to drivers about it....found out that those drivers were also missing thier breaks at chermside.

What makes your mocking of my efforts on this and other routes look 'hilarious' gazza.....is they eventually added on 5 minutes of fat to the 680...

QuoteWe've adjusted some bus timetables in the Moreton Bay region to give you better service reliability.

This means:
•more reliable connections with other services
•more accurate timetables, adjusted for current traffic conditions
•your bus arrives on time.

That's the result we are after isn't it??

And while I'm at it...

There.....thats a press release from the forum admin requesting 10 minutes of fat at train stations to cushion either a late bus or a late train...

Yes but the consequence of having more generous connection windows (Above a standard 6-7 mins) is more idling, you cant have it both ways.

That all said, I think in that letter the idea of revenue sweeps delaying trains to such a huge extent is unacceptable. Revenue protection is not worth such severe delays and will only turn people off PT.

3 - 10 minutes is considered acceptable.

For a clockfaced route that suffers no delays in peaks/offpeaks....then a timetabled mode transfer of 10 minutes would be excessive.....3 - 7 would be preferred......but gazza we know full well most routes don't work like that.....especially the routes that traverse busier roads......routes where there are up to 20 minute differences between off-peak/peak running times...

Case in point the 760....ive come to a conclusion on this route today....

The two times previous to today...I caught the 3pm scheduled into varsity.....both times it arrived 10 minutes late which negated the 10 minute window....actually had to sprint off the bus and yell to train guard to please hold a few secs which they thankfully did.

Fast forward to today I have re-arranged my schedule and caught the bus earlier because I'm not up for anymore sprints....
The 2.00pm scheduled into varsity arrived 2 minutes early after idling for 5 minutes through-out the route..
Works out to a 17 minute difference in running times off-peak and school peak...

You can 'have it both ways' if the bus route is adjusted to traffic conditions properly and the trains run on-time like they are supposed to...
So window-wise for the 760.....best to aim for a 5 minute window off-peak and up to 15 minute window school peak....more dynamic than just a standard 10.
ps: was I offput by the 12 minutes wait for the train? Nope....if it was 22 minutes....yes.

There is no perfect window..
Until we get 15 minute train frequencies.....there has to be continuing effort on modal transfers....in a time where more cars on the road are continuing to increase peak/offpeak running times for buses...
