Forum for train commuters on track

QuoteForum for train commuters on track

THE rattle of steel wheels rolling over sleepers is a sound familiar to thousands of commuters who rely on the Ipswich rail line to earn a living. And now, the people whose livelihood is on the Brisbane-bound line will get to have a say about how the busy service is run.

Queensland Rail (QR) has set up a Community Reference Group (CRG) to provide a forum for regular passengers. The forum is designed to provide some community engagement and information sharing. A QR spokeswoman said a variety of topics would be discussed including scheduling, personal security, cleanliness and emerging projects. 'The CRG will represent a broad selection of passengers to ensure all concerns, interests and opportunities are appropriately considered,' the spokeswoman said. The first meeting will be held on October 16.

There were flyers up on stations calling for folks that who would be interested in nominating for the CRG.  Application forms were available from the stations offices.

Those who successfully nominated have been notified, the article in the QT is little misleading the meetings are for the CRG representatives only.

Keep an eye out for the flyers on the other lines.
