With Confirmation that the clevleand line will be duplicated between manly and cleveland it opens alot of questions. Such as How will the track be duplicated under manly road without major restucturing of the bridge.another hurdle is a second bridge over the river [forget the name] Also why 2026. Obviously other projects take prefernece such as the Ipswich and springfield line works but the total cost is an estimated 180 million surely Queenslanbd has that money to spare if not why not remove the 8,3c fuel subsidy and use the extra 500million a year for major upgrades to the entire Rail system this of course would force commuters off the road who would expect a great system and they would get it.

Mario, the Cleveland line duplication is a priority too from our point of view.  The single line workings cause timetable issues on the southern lines as well.   It must be brought forward and is something we have and will continue to highlight.

Ramp up rail!!

Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

A reasonably cheap interim solution would be to build a reversing siding (or third platform) at Manly, so that Manly terminators would not get in way of other services. But this is far too logical for the "smart state".

Another interim option would be to just duplicate at the current single track stations. Berlin's S-bahn has many stretches with single track only duplicated at stations, and still maintains 10 min off-peak frequencies. The downside is that trains are often timetabled to wait a few minutes at stations for the single track to clear. This doesn't help journey times!
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2007 - 7tph
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2010 - 4tph
* departures from Central between 16:30 and 17:30.

Just like the Sandgate-Shorncliffe duplication, I think it is included with the estimated completion of 2026 as it is not considered a priority (by the decision-makers) but is on the horizon and may be brought forward or put off as required.

I remember catching the train from Cleveland back in 1991 and even then we often had to wait several minutes at Thornside for a late train.  That was before Lota was duplicated.

Birkdale would be easy enough to duplicate - but Ormiston might be a bit harder as there is a downward embankment right beside the track.

Building a third platform at manly is very easy and the space has been alocated towards it. [At least when manly was upgrade last year they put the stairs in a logical place.] this only leaves the bridge jsut past manly [i am pretty sure it is manly raod] this will require extenisve roadworks to get the track through here. the main reason i have been pushing so hard for this is that cleveland is a current site with interes to build a Transit oriented building. If this is built i can only imagine the chaos of trying to get even more services to and from clevelnad in peak hour. [current timtabe is almost full]
