All aboard with Christmas shopper buses

New shopper bus routes are helping to take the hassle out of Christmas this year, travelling to some of South East Queensland's biggest shopping hotspots.

Public transport is a great way to get around and there are now more dedicated services travelling directly between major shopping centres.

In the last year, we've added three new designated cross town shopper bus routes which provide customers with a shop-to-shop service to some of the biggest centres in the region, which include:

    Route 77 (Chermside to Eight Mile Plains) which visits Westfield Chermside and Westfield Garden City
    Route P88 (Eight Mile Plains to Indooroopilly) which visits Indooroopilly Shoppingtown, Westfield Garden City and the Brisbane CBD
    Route 590 (Garden City to Aiport 1 and Aviation Precinct) which travels to Westfield Garden City, Westfield Carindale and the Airport DFO.

Shopping centres are key hubs in our community and there are many other bus, train and ferry services that stop at or near to busy retail precincts.
Some routes include:
North

    Chermside Shopping Centre: Bus routes 77, 308, 320, 322, 325, 330, P331, P332, 333, 334, 335, 336, 337, 338, 340, P341, 353, 354, P356, 370, 598, 599 and 680.
    Stafford City Shopping Centre: Bus routes 353, 354, P356, 358, 375, 376 and 379.
    Strathpine Shopping Centre: Bus routes 327, 338, 671, 672, 673, 674 and 680.
    Toombul Shopping Centre: The centre is about 200 metres walk from Toombul train station on the Caboolture/Shorncliffe lines. Bus routes 300, 301, 306, 307, 308, 310, 315, 321, 322, 326, 327, 358, 598 and 599.
    Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) - Airport: Bus routes 308 and 590.
    Morayfield Shopping Centre: The centre is a 750 metre walk from Morayfield train station on the Caboolture train line. Bus routes 651, 653, 654, 656, 660 and 667 stop at the centre.
    Strathpine Shopping Centre: The centre is a 750 metre walk from Strathpine train station on the Caboolture train line. Bus routes 327, 338, 671, 672, 673, 674 and 680 stop at the centre.
    North Lakes Shopping Centre: Bus routes 676, 680, 682, 684, 687, 688 and 689.
    Brookside Shopping Centre: Bus routes 354, 358, 360, 361, 362, 390, 396, 397, 398, 598 and 599.
    Aspley Hypermarket: Bus routes 336, 337, 338, 340, P341, P343, P344, 345, 346, 350, 351 and 680.

South

    Logan Hyperdome, Loganholme: Bus routes 282, 283, 552, 553, 555, 560, 562, 563, 565, 566, P569, 570, 571, 572,573, 574 and 575.
    Grand Plaza Shopping Centre, Browns Plains: Bus routes 140, P141, P142, 150, 534, 540, 541, 542, 543, 544, 545, 550 and 560.

    Indooroopilly Shopping Centre: The centre is about 400 metres walk along Station Road from Indooroopilly train station on the Ipswich/Richlands lines. Bus routes P88, 105, 106, 108, 414, 415, 425, 427, 428, 430, 432, 433, 435, 444, 445, 450, 453, 454, 460, 468, 598 and 599 stop at the shopping centre bus station.
    Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre: Bus routes 103, 106, 450, 453, 454, P455, P456, P457, P458, P459 and 460.
    Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) - Jindalee: Bus routes 453, P456, P457, 467 and 468.

Ipswich and Springfield

    Redbank Plaza: Bus routes 500, 525 and 526.
    Orion Shopping Centre, Springfield Central: Bus routes, 522, 526, 530 and 534.
    Riverlink Shopping Centre, Ipswich: Bus routes 500, 502, 503, 506, 509, 512, 513, 514, 515 and 516.

Gold Coast

    Australia Fair, Southport: Catch a Gold Coast line train to Helensvale station and transfer to a connecting route 3, 709 or 715. Bus routes 3, 5, 10, 14, 15, 16, 18, 18A, 20, 20A, 700, 702, 703, 706, 709, 715, 737 and 747 also service the shopping centre.
    Pacific Fair, Broadbeach: Catch a Robina line train to Nerang station and transfer to a connecting route 20, 20A or 745 bus. A large number of Gold Coast bus services stop at Pacific Fair.
    Harbour Town, Biggera Waters: Bus routes 5, 16, 703, 709, 715 and 738.

Sunshine Coast

    Sunshine Plaza, Maroochydore: Most Sunshine Coast bus routes stop at Sunshine Plaza, including 600, 601, 602, 610, 612, 613, 614, 615, 616, 617, 619, 620 and 622.
    Kawana Shoppingworld: Bus routes 600, 601, 602, 605, 610, 614, 618, 619 and 622.
    Noosa Civic Shopping Centre: Bus routes 622, 628, 629 and 632.

For many, it is only a single trip journey from your stop to the shops.

If you're planning to go late night shopping in the Brisbane CBD on Friday 16 December, why not take advantage of the extra NightLink bus services running every 30 minutes Friday and Saturday nights from 12am to 5.30am, until midnight Christmas Eve (24 December).

Nightlink buses at 2-3am also carry more passengers than buses around many neighbourhoods at 2-3pm. It should come as no surprise that services are concentrated where and when the demand is.

This is a scam this media release designed to play on slow news weeks of local rags nearing their Christmas shut down to fill space. Patrons are going on holidays and TL wants to fill some seats.

Gonna want to ramp up those 5 daily 1h45 minute frequency 336/337 routes if you want to fill more seats going to Chermside. I was on the 336 the other day around ~2.30-3pm and it was chockers on its way to Geebung station!

^^Some good pre Christmas extensions to services there. Took them long enough though. Why is this left a week prior to Chrismas? It should be published and marketed from late November each year.

I can't be the only one frustrated with TransLink's unwillingness to publish proper timetables of the "special" Christmas day timetable in operation on the Gold Coast.  People do plan their journeys other than through the journey planner, not that you would know from what they put out.

They aren't happening this year, interestingly enough. Poor patronage perhaps? I, for one, never really adjusted to the extra services and tended to use the existing services.

Very vague description. Most will look at that and think "oh well, 66,111 and 590 aren't my buses" yet someone posted on facebook, and there was an extra 330 running after midnight sunday. All this while the Westfields etc are doing a 24 hour shopping spree.

To coincide with Chermside. The other centres are closing at midnight, so makes sense what they have done.

Nothing mentitoned about chermside. If you were in the CBD at 9:20pm it would say "no services for the next 90 minutes"
its not the lack of night / extra services that i'm talking of, its the lack of actually advertising "one extra 325, one extra 330" etc
