@STB, your correct about the 545, my mistake, it is still operated by PRT; the point still remains though, extra services are desperately required especially between 3-4:30pm, 551/561 takes some of the load of 545 during peak hours.

AnonymouslyBad

The "after school rush" applies to a lot of Logan services, but I don't know if increasing frequencies for that tiny window is a practical solution. Budgets aren't unlimited (unfortunately) and since it's right on the edge of peak, we're talking an increase in fleet just to give a more comfortable ride to maybe 10 people per service - very inefficient.

If a service is absolutely overcrowded, that's different, and needs review. But if we're being honest - the definition of "crowded" in SEQ is pretty spoilt, and standing-room-only on a service that's running empty for the other 23 hours of the day* is not remarkable. I'd much, much rather see the money go towards a higher frequency and/or longer operating hours throughout some of the core routes.

* More like the other 11 hours of the day, since the buses all stop at 6pm :)

What would you think about alternating the 555 Springwood-Hyperdome late night services between 572 and 574?

This would be a bad idea. The 555+572 merge is already not the best for legibility. Being such an obvious cost-cutting measure it also annoys the hell out of people!

Adding the 574 into the mix would make it worse - and as mentioned the 574 doesn't have high patronage. The 572 is essentially the core route if the M1 didn't exist.

I'm not saying the operating hours of the 574 are anything close to acceptable though.

Plenty of other serious road issues all regions.  Coronation Drive is a particular corker!

True, but if you separated out the 4xx services, I'm sure their OTR would be awful as well. Just that Brisbane city overall has its OTR 'improved' by all those air parcels :)

563 again.....

Fix your FN buses schedules.
563 to Beenleigh just drove passed left us at the bus stop cos it was full.
Also left a kid there
Next bus ain't for an hour cos your useless planners won't fix this...
I don't care that about being late for work. But now that kid is at the risk of being the next Daniel Morecombe

Wasn't there a no kids left behind policy?

This bus is full EVERY SCHOOL DAY
YOU STILL WONT PUT ON HALF HOURLY BUSES

Logan residents don't count right

Hope your kids don't get stranded due to planners incompetence

its the same person who put in the previous '5 prams onboard' complaint.
The thing that makes this disturbing is that a bus drove past while a child was waiting at a stop with other adults present......similar to Daniel morcombe...

STB

It sounds like it just needs an extra school run rather than an extra 563 at that time of the day.  I'd bet $100 that during school holidays that same service becomes an air parcel.

As a side note, I really hate the antagonistic tone that guy has, when I was working as a planner at TL, we were more likely to ignore complaints if people got antagonistic and threatening towards us in their complaints.

most bus routes become air parcels on holidays....so whats new??
Simple fact is....it is an hourly route with 'sorry bus full'.
I could handle a 'sorry bus full' on a buz or rocket.....it would probably be slightfully acceptable for a half hourly route...depending on the availability of alternatives ......but hourly 'sorry bus fulls' are downright pathetic..
Ive never EVER heard of an hourly bus route with 'sorry bus full' until today.....shocked that something as such would even exist.
If the 563 is your local route.....then congrats...your riding the worst bus route in SEQ...

must you remind us for the 100th time??

Your former employers are not saints....they have shown their incompetence multiple times..
I only have to walk through the valley train station and see its one AVVM to realise that.....while 20+ people wait to top up their gocards.....
That's right STB....QR actually have to roster more staff on at the ticket windows because of translinks incompetence.......there have been two huge towers built within a stones throw of the station and we still have only one machine...

That is the measure of your former employer...

Lol, I actually left due to bullying at QR by my supervisor and management unable to work out how to deal with it, I left halfway through a contract and put me off from working in the industry for the rest of my life, so no, I don't see QR as saints, however, I do have insider knowledge of how the system works.

At TL, even though I was happier overall, I was used as a cheap consultant working as a Planner at A03 levels part time, so kinda used and abused for my extensive knowledge that I got purely because I chose not to learn to drive - I have few real regrets with TL though (compared to QR), only real regret is not staying longer and asking for a higher payrate to match what I was actually doing there.

Other reasons for leaving the industry include me getting sick of getting abused and yelled at by passengers for simply passing on the information, or because "their bus" didn't leave 5mins earlier anymore, or went down one street further, I remember being surrounded by angry passengers once who were being abusive and threatening simply because we were altering the bus route slightly in their area in order to save on kms to boost the frequency to service another area that badly needed it..   You can only tolerate for so long before it really gets to you.

By the way, route 563 is no longer my local route - it was however for about 8 months.  And all I'm pointing out is that it sounds like it's more of a school bus issue than a 563 issue - which really for Eagleby, it's a granny/retirement village - at least that's my 8 months experience of living out there, of which I'm glad I'm no longer there!

translnk bring it on themselves in a lot of cases....eg: clock faced trip times, route alignments,it took them years to get an avvm in at indooroopilly and there is still not one at inala which has some of the highest paper ticket purchases and fare evasion......meanwhile we have one sitting up there at Redcliffe jetty that hardly gets used because most people top up their friggin gocards on the bus...

Here you go >> a random check of the 522 @ 10.17 which has been copping complaints for years...
https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/stops/317734 (Old Logan Rd at Julieanne Street, Gailes )

which is 2 stops from Goodna station so nearing the end of its route...
