TransLink is not customer focussed

Good Morning,

ANZAC Day is this Wednesday, 25th April 2018 of course.

Yesterday I asked TransLink when the public transport details and arrangements for ANZAC day will be available on the website.

https://twitter.com/Robert_Dow/status/987125905746096128

The response was ' will be announced on the TransLink website and social media pages on Sunday '.

https://twitter.com/TransLinkSEQ/status/987138633550454785

Hardly timely or satisfactory is it.  Other states have had the information available for some time, e.g.

PTV > https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/anzac-day/

Transperth > http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Journey-Planner/Events/anzac-day-2018-59487

Adelaide Metro > https://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/Announcements/Planned-Disruptions/Anzac-Day-2018-service-information

Anzac Day 2018 Sydney CBD  > https://transportnsw.info/events/2018/04/anzac-day-2018-sydney-cbd

In another sign of the communication dysfunction that TransLink creates we can report that train guards were advising passengers to check the TransLink for website for details of ANZAC day services ( https://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=13101.msg207722#msg207722 ).  There is nothing to check.

The TransLink Tracker is published quarterly.  The last TransLink Tracker published was Q4 2016-17 ( https://publications.qld.gov.au/dataset/translink-division-quarterly-reports ).  We are now into Q4 2017-18.

The last monthly TransLink performance snapshot published was for December 2017 ( https://publications.qld.gov.au/dataset/translink-public-transport-performance-snapshots ).

Hardly timely is it?

I think Mr Paul Turner RACQ Spokesperson summed up the Transport Authorities attitude towards ' customers ' when he commented as follows:

" Often people are blamed for not using public transport, but we find people will use public transport if it meets their needs, and unfortunately over the decades we've provided public transport that suits the needs of the authority ... not necessarily the commuter "

Paul Turner RACQ
https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/traffic-reports/the-key-to-get-gold-coasters-out-of-their-cars-and-on-to-public-transport/news-story/cff8bd4bb47d194ce6268cf181e84a28

It is time that TransLink was consigned to history.  We need a proper statutory public transport authority, that has at its heart the desire to deliver the best public transport for all of Queensland - Public Transport Queensland, and not serve their own over-inflated, over paid self interests.

Best wishes,
Robert
