From Monday 22 January, there will be changes to some Brisbane East services.

Introduction of route P228 from Cannon Hill

To help alleviate overcrowding on route 227, a new P228 service will operate on weekdays between Cannon Hill and the City:

    inbound every 15 minutes between 6.45am and 7.30am
    outbound every 15 minutes between 4.45pm and 5.30pm

The P228 is a limited stop service providing more direct access to the CBD.

Please note, the 'P' prior to the route number indicates this is a pre-paid service (go card or pre-purchased ticket).

Routes 227 and 230

There will be some changes to morning inbound services on routes 227 and 230.

Customers who travel on route 227 or 230 may be able to catch the new P228 service, which runs during morning and afternoon peak times on weekdays.

Please note, the P228 is a limited stop service and may not stop at all the same locations as routes 227 and 230.

Route 232

There will be some changes to morning inbound services on route 232 between Creek Road, Carina and Cannon Hill.

The following stops will no longer be serviced by inbound route 232:

    Creek Rd at Carina Bus Depot, Carina (Stop ID 005901)
    Creek Rd at Carindale Tennis Centre, stop 46, Carina (Stop ID 010123)
    Creek Rd at Fursden Road, stop 47, Carina (Stop ID 010122)
    Creek Rd at Carina North, stop 49, Carina (Stop ID 005938)
    Creek Rd near Foxmont Dr, stop 50, Carina (Stop ID 010235)
    Creek Rd at Old Stockyards, Cannon Hill (Stop ID 005932)

Please note, these changes are only to route 232. These stops will continue to be serviced by other routes.

If you wish to travel on route 232, you can catch the 590 or 598 to Cannon Hill and transfer to the 232.

Realignment of route P207

During morning peak times, the inbound P207 will travel along Margaret Street and drop customers closer to QUT and 1 William Street, making it easier to access these locations

The modified route P207 will service the following stops:

    Margaret St fs George (Stop 000094)
    Eagle St app Charlotte St (Stop 000155)
    Eagle St fs Eagle Lane (Stop 000064)

Please note, the P207 afternoon outbound route and stop locations will not change.

P228 was inevitable due to the massive spike in workers in and out of the valley who reside along the 227`s inner section......worker wise the valley/newstead is showing large gains during the peaks......just yesterday on an inbound 302 i noticed about 30-40 people waiting for buses at the ann/james st stop....for a moment there I thought I was looking at a QSBS or KGBS stop.

Why not just increase the frequency of the 227?

^ because the increased demand isn't there after cannon hill...only before....main demand has increased between kangaroo point and cannon hill.....particularly around morningside(are we even surprised by this with #railfail??)
BT/BCC obviously aren't interested in increasing 227 frequency for the sake of 'trying to gain a little extra patronage after cannon hill'.
It also competes with the 220 after cannon hill and around Wynnum/manly as well.
Also easier access for these p228`s to the Carindale depot.

It's a 1hour 15 minute journey in morning peak on the 227 from Wynnum Plaza to City and services 60 stops, so I wouldn't advocate increasing the frequency of that service.

As a regular commuter between Morningside and The Valley this is a welcome move. Many 227 afternoon peak services leave the Fortitude Valley full.

The new timetable for the P228 isn't up yet. I assume it will take the Ivory St tunnel outbound like the other P routes and observe limited stops along Wynnum Road. There will be some stop consolidation as part of the Wynnum Road upgrade at East Brisbane / Norman Park.

There are presently a few morning short run 227 and 230 services that were put on to reduce overcrowding. Perhaps they should be removed

Ivory St inbound! Every other service inbound observed the stop on Ann St near Kemp place. Madness.

As a regular commuter between Morningside and The Valley this is a welcome move. Many 227 afternoon peak services leave the Fortitude Valley full.

seems to be a certain couple so far who are bagging this rocket.......sorry to burst your bubble.....but due to #railfail...the benefits outweigh cons.....this now has the capacity to relieve a little pressure between the city and morningside station......there needs to be some sort of advertising push by translink/BCC suggesting that people catch this route instead of adding to the overcrowding on the Cleveland line...
If you factor in about a 6 minute walk from macarthur central to central station its pretty much the same commute time on the p228 to morningside station..
I'm also going to add a mention for the maroon glider which hopefully sees some commuters ditch Coorparoo station and walk in the other direction towards holdsworth st and catch the MG......there is a big gap on commute times but on comfort factor the MG wins hands down...

Traffic between 7am and 8:30am usually makes the train the quicker option.

Due to congestion from an accident, this mornings inaugural P228 took 45 minutes to reach Norman Ave. Timetable had that as 15 minutes, so half hour late.

outbound is what I was comparing to.....inbound is definitely a turn-off with that massive gap.....12-14 minutes longer on the inbound between morningside rail and Edward st.
Not looking good for lytton rd.....but it was a case of damned if you do or damned if you don't for BT......they have overcrowding that needs to be addressed but at the same time they have implemented this new rocket when the Wynnum rd corridor upgrade commences

Just switched from an outbound 227 that had about 15 standees to a P228 seating 8 pax. The P228 needs to be more attractive to build patronage. Perhaps have it service more stops in Canon Hill and Morningside.
