Question about off-peak fares

I've looked for this information on the TL website and couldn't find it anywhere.

I understand that off-peak fares apply before 6am, If I board a train at 5:25am but finish the trip after 6am, which fare will apply? Peak or off-peak? Also if I then catch a bus to complete my journey, but within the same zone, does that then negate any benefit I would've had for the train journey being charged off-peak anyway (assuming it is)?

Off peak is based on when you touch on.

Quote... Off-peak fares are based on when you touch on.

If you transfer between services on a multi-trip journey across peak and off-peak times, your go card will automatically calculate the fare as a combination of peak and off-peak. ...
