The real point of high speed rail: property development

I thought land speculation was something people got upset about when private companies did it with their own (or investors) money,

but apparently when the government does it with everyone's tax funds, it is A-OK...


The purpose of public transport is to move people. Transport projects that don't transport things (people, goods) are not transport

projects, but public symbols and monuments, like Sydney monorail.


If the HSR was built but no trains were put on it, would it be a transport project?
