TransLink have put up a facebook site.

Will be official from tomorrow.  Will be another source of service disruption information and another means of making enquiries.

... or another way of people venting their frustration of high fares!

And the second public comments was:
"Buses that never come, fares that are insanely expensive.
How could you expect this page to attract anything but hate?
I have never hated a public service the way I hate translink, congratulations on outdoing Queensland Health and centrelink as one of the most frustrating, poorly run government services ever screwed up by it's senior management!"

Tomorrow is going to be hilarious!

Just be glad BT doesn't open a facebook page!

I think it will be a good thing. It will also mean that RBOT can post from time to time on there as well.
Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

Noted some posts have been removed on the TL FB page.   TL have started to respond and noted some service disruptions posted as well.

The page has now been opened up for people to post directly to it.

Whilst there may be much angst directed against TransLink due to the high cost of public transport travel compared to the rest of the country, they have come a long way from the heady days of 2008/2009 when Go card propaganda was delivered along with every response to a question - even if it wasn't a part of the original query.
Communication is handled much better these days and that is a credit to them.
This FB page is a sign of those improving communications.

Good on 'em.

Nobody would care if BT opened a Facebook page, really. Everybody blames TransLink these days for everything - even the broken bus network created by Brisbane City Council. :fp:
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

It is another avenue of feedback and information.  Good on TransLink for having a go.  Pity most don't realise that the fare fail is actually grounded more in a political policy failure both by ALP and continued by LNP, rather than TransLink itself.

Entertaining too!   ;)

TransLink's Facebook page crashes into wall of abuse

A BRAVE foray into interactive social media may have backfired for public transport agency TransLink which is copping a barrage of criticism on its new Facebook page.

Launched this week, the page has over 800 "likes" but a stream of posts indicate the high level of discontent with public transport in southeast Queensland.

From complaints about the odour of trains to the cost of fares, commuters have taken a no-holds barred approach to the page.

"In coming years I will have to sell vital organs to raise money for your services," wrote Matthew Ashton yesterday.

"Your cost to kilometre ratio makes no sense. You suck."

Colin Hili said "your service is appalling".

A TransLink spokesman confirmed a number of people were employed by the agency to moderate the page around the clock but he declined to provide specific details.

"TransLink's 24-hour contact centre manages a range of information services for our customers including conversations via our social media channels," he said.

"Facebook provides TransLink with a great opportunity to engage with its customers."

He said TransLink had made public its terms of use for the page which outlined that posts deemed "abusive, offensive in tone or language, racial or personal attacks against others will be removed".

Michael Swifte who administers the Translink Rip Off Facebook page, said he had been blocked from posting on the official site despite what he called "relevant content".

His page has almost 2500 likes.

Robert Dow from commuter advocacy group Back on Track said TransLink deserved a pat on the back for trying.
"I think it will settle down in time, and it may prove to be quite useful," said Mr Dow.

its already is becoming useful....keeping track of BT drivers/depot incidents....one customer has already reported a speeding gold coast bus driver...2 or 3 customers have reported a succession of 390's not turning up.......this page will be good for monitoring overcrowded buses and left behind passengers.... :clp:

"Rail closures are scheduled all day today and tomorrow from Roma Street to Eagle Junction and Ferny Grove. Train services will be replaced with buses, so be sure to replan your journey in advance. http://bit.ly/1kKYefm"

FFS TransLink - the closures are after approx. 9:30pm at night, not all day. Attention to detail is the difference between mediocrity and excellence!
