Sunshine Coast Daily --> Maroochydore city centre blueprint is finally here

IT'S a bold, 32-page blueprint three years in the making which is hoped to lay the foundation for the prosperity of the Maroochydore city centre for decades to come.

A collaborative project produced by the Maroochy Revitalisation Association and jointly funded via crowd funding, donations from local businesses, residents and landowners and support from Sunshine Coast Council, the Economic Development Plan targets key areas to develop the new Maroochy heart, as well as benefiting the rest of the Coast.

Five key components were identified as part of the massive project, which included: strengthening arts, culture and entertainment; ensuring the precinct is economically sustainable and prosperous; creating an inner-city village with strong local and visitor appeal; incorporating sustainability initiatives wherever possible and ensuring a robust and financially secure MRA.

"It's three years in the making (raising funding and gathering the data), it's pretty momentous for the organisation really," MRA president James Birrell said.
