Open Drum's latest call out for people to write about their experience of THE COMMUTE: What are the joys and challenges of getting around where you live?

Open Drum is an ABC Open project that runs in partnership with ABC News The Drum program.

Every fortnight we do a call out for a topic that's in the news. We ask people to share their personal experience on the topic as well as their views on what needs to change.

THE COMMUTE call out is:

Travelling to where you need to be can now take hours out of your day. Sometimes it's the sheer distance you need to travel for work or just to go about your business. Road congestion and unreliable public transport in our cities means long delays. In the country, with no other options, carless can mean jobless.

Tell us about your daily commute. What are the joys and challenges? How does it impact your life or your family?

Would improved public transport, affordable accommodation near workplaces or better roads help? Do you have a survival tip or utopian vision for policy makers?
