Queensland:  Congratulations to the new Minister for Transport and thanks to former Transport Ministers

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers has congratulated the Deputy Premier Jackie Trad on appointment as Minister for Transport, and thanked the former Minister and Assistant Minister.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Congratulations to the Deputy Premier Jackie Trad on being appointed to Minister for Transport"

"We would like to thank the former Minister for Main Roads and Transport, Scott Emerson and the Assistant Minister for Public Transport, Steve Minnikin for their contributions to public and active transport in the former Government."

"Queensland Labor has been approachable in the past on public transport matters and we look forward to working with the new Minister and Government to progress public transport in Queensland."

It might have been wise to have created a position of 'Minister for North Queensland' and rolled that into the State Development ministry.

We should be getting onto them as soon as possible once things settle down so we can start to push for them to fix the mess - principally fares.

Immediately scrapping the TTCC would be a positive first step and show of good faith.
