What is the Browns Plains bus station upgrade project?

The Browns Plains bus station upgrade involves enhancing the existing station facility located within the Grand Plaza Shopping Centre, as well as proposing four new indented on-road bus stops along Browns Plains Road.

The upgraded bus station and proposed new stops will increase capacity for the local area and significantly improve travel time and reliability by providing an efficient, safe and comfortable facility. The upgraded station will also provide a more accessible facility with bicycle storage facilities and a designated kiss 'n' ride area for dropping off and picking up passengers.

I am in two minds over this as I never thought it was that bad a station.
That said sometimes it is easier and cheaper to do a complete replacement then a small upgrade here and there.

I just want to make sure it has both longterm and short term bicycle parking spaces.

I'm actually pleased that this is happening.  At the moment the station looks rather tired and well used and does feel quite cramp when you are mixing with a lot of people who are jumping on very popular services like the 140 and 150.  Plus in the afternoon, the sun beats in despite the shade given which is quite unpleasant.

Having all the Clarks and Park Ridge buses share the same stop is going to be a bit risky IMO. I've seen issues with the current 5 stop island arrangement where a Park Ridge bus comes in to find all three bays on the Clarks/PR side being used, and having to quickly borrow the 150 stop to unload. The lack of layover space could also be an issue.

School pm peak is the worst time for logan/pr buses to get a dropoff spot. Will be interesting to see it all happen over the next few months. Traffic around grand plaza drive is going to be chaotic at the school peaks during phase 2....especially the car traffic.

Safer, better and cheaper travel for Browns Plains

Catching a bus from Browns Plains Bus Station will soon be a lot more comfortable and convenient for passengers thanks to a $10.2 million upgrade funded by the LNP Government.

Member for Logan Michael Pucci and Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson today unveiled the improved station, which is one of the busiest in the state's south-east.

As well as new seating, lighting and security cameras, the revamp has also provided the station with improved shelters for passengers – who are now more protected from rain or shine.

"Logan is a growing city and that is why delivering better infrastructure for its residents is a priority for this government," Mr Pucci said.

"The new station is safer and more comfortable for passengers and shows our strong plan is delivering a brighter future for the people of this electorate."

Mr Pucci said the station's layout had been altered to ensure more efficient bus operations.

"Buses will now be able to take a more direct route through Grand Plaza Shopping Centre, ensuring more efficiency and reliability for passengers," Mr Pucci said.

The upgrade also includes new indented bus stops on Browns Plains Road, a passenger drop-off area, bicycle storage facilities and new amenities for bus drivers.

Mr Emerson said Browns Plains bus passengers were also enjoying cheaper travel, with the Newman Government's five per cent fare reduction implemented today.

"We're delivering real cost of living relief for passengers by re-investing the $30 million we saved from the scrapped carbon tax in lower fares," Mr Emerson said.

"Passengers who use this new station to travel into the Brisbane CBD will save more than $700 a year on what they would have paid under Labor."

Mr Pucci said Clark's Logan City and Park Ridge Transit buses would start using the refurbished station from Monday, 10 November.

Brisbane Transport buses will continue to service new stops on nearby Browns Plains Road.
