Concepts look pretty schmick!

SurfRail

They sound obscenely expensive (especially for stops with such little patronage like the Martime Museum).

I would like to see the UQ terminal moved towards the busway station and integrated.

So in the old cross river ferry's spot? Probably need to widen the path behind the northern platform to compensate.

I had heard that idea was being canvassed a while ago. No idea what the final decision is, but I think I'd agree that it's a better location.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

A development approval (A003790426 for anyone wanting to check it out on PDOnline) was lodged by council for the new North Quay ferry terminal. As well as the terminal itself, the DA includes a new plaza area at the William Street level, just adjacent to the Victoria Bridge pedestrian path, with improved stair access and a new lift being included. This is a major improvement over the current uneven stairs that probably date from the 1960s or earlier, and the almost complete lack of PWD access to the terminal (the only PWD access was by travelling down Queens Wharf Road along the narrow, uneven footpath until you get down to the bikeway and then backtrack).

I posted a more detailed rundown over on Skyscrapercity http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=110496978&postcount=8518 that includes plans and renders, for anyone interested.

Looks pretty sweet. The only thing is I'd have liked to have seen if they could have incorporated a small cafe or something to draw people to it (though I guess being wedged between REX, the Victoria Bridge and William St this isn't the most attractive area).

I was thinking that too, although I wonder whether a coffee cart set up the top, or a popup shipping container set up down the bottom might be considered.

SurfRail

Something like Bunker Coffee or Miel Container, which would give people a reason to actually go down there.

I think that they are moving it. The information on the council website is a little vague but they are building new moorings (http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/traffic-transport/public-transport/citycat-ferry-services/terminal-upgrades), providing new paths to link the terminal to the university and it will "provide a more efficient transport network" (both http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/traffic-transport/public-transport/citycat-ferry-services/terminal-upgrades/uq-st-lucia-citycat-terminal-upgrade). The existing terminal will be open the entire time and I have noticed a construction site below the Schonell Bridge on the Northern side, so it seems they are moving it. No map is provided though  >:(.

Also worth noting the new moorings at Dutton Park. There is no mention of a new terminal there though.

Personally, if they are going to build another ferry terminal, I would go upstream and look at putting a stop near Brisbane Corso at Newcastle Street, stop 16. If you really wanted you could go further upstream, but once you get past about there that's when the river just becomes useless for City-bound transport.

It would also fix the coverage issue in that area, which is part of the reason for the retention of the 105 in that area between Leyshon Park and Fairfield Rd. Combined with an upgraded 196 (to Yeronga), almost everywhere in Fairfield/Yeronga would be within walking distance of frequent services.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

New moorings at Dutton Park are likely for storing out of service citycats.  They have previously used near the UQ side of the bridge to moor out of service citycats.

I agree, that is a good idea. It would give people there great access to UQ, Toowong, Milton, South Brisbane and the City. It seems silly not to extend the cats just up the river. Fairfield residents would be spoilt for choice: ferry, bus and train! It would also free up some capacity on the Beenleigh line and thus the Merivale Bridge.
