The fares in SEQ are in total disarray.  The party/candidates that can offer a clear sensible fare strategy will no doubt do well.

The present Government has failed to fixed the botched fare path introduced by the Bligh Government.  Will cynical politics mean a revised fare structure prior to election 2015?  Hopefully sooner than that ...
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

Fares for 2015-2017 are in.
Budget 2014 - Minister announced fare increases of 2.5% for the next 3 years and noted they are less than inflation (loss of concessions notwithstanding).

I spoke to my local MP today (Dale Shuttleworth, Ferny Grove) regarding the mooted concession cuts (as I've seen plenty of media confirming that there won't be pensioner cuts, but nothing for students).

He says that as the media battle was largely fought on pensioner concessions, that's why the subsequent reports only mentioned pensioners.

So: I have verbal confirmation that concessions of all types should not be affected, at least for transport. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks I'll get an email confirming.
