It is time for the elected representatives of the citizens to achieve this important upgrade of the line north of Beerburrum.

Enough of spin and waffle, action is needed.

Set in train

Perhaps there needs to be a political party for this purpose of securing the duplication/realignment?

Bullet Train for Australia stood in the Senate and House of Reps seats along the alignment.

Would have to be high budget, heavy promotional backing required.

A cut price option would be to simply discuss with all on the train each day about it, build a volunteer army, have members act as carriage leaders to chat about it and pass the word on. ETA: you're having an informal conversation, not in-your-face campaigning, so that gets around any problems that some may perceive.

Small/new parties do work if you clearly remind voters they can vote 1 for your party and then vote 2 for the major party of their choice. Major party most likely to get in but a healthy number of votes raised, making a clear point.

Lobby Clive Palmer. All his coal mines use rail to get product to port.

Is this for real?  :yikes:
I thought it was almost a hoax article from those faux-news websites.

Glaringly obvious - The entire coast needs proper train connection!!

And the bits about Queensland becoming an economic power house, oh please. Everyone knows that award goes to Melbourne and Sydney. Getting tired of hearing lines like "oh, and I was voted in and the economy suddenly bloomed" is a bit like taking credit for good weather! The main functions of state government are generally housekeeping: law and order, transport, health, education, environment.

Sunshine Coast Daily --> Campbell Newman: We don't know what Coast wants!

Quote...  Sunshine Coast mayor Mark Jamieson told ABC radio on Monday morning that he was shocked by the Premier's comments.

"Look I was a little stunned, I must admit,'' Mr Jamieson said of the article in the Daily today.

"If the Premier is criticising the council for not outlining our vision... our priorities for the region than he is wrong.''

"I personally outlined our economic development strategy to the Premier,'' Mr Jamieson said.

He said the strategy was the culmination of work by chambers of commerce, the development industry, community groups and the university.

He said he had met with the Local Government Minister to outline the region's priorities.

Mr Jamieson said he had also set up a Sunshine Coast First group which aimed to unite the council with state and federal MPs, business leaders, chambers of commerce and peak development groups.

He said if the Coast's six sitting MPs could not convey the region's needs, he did not know what more he could do ...
