Brisbane Transport 'cosmetic' bus changes?

I've just noticed something. The 137 and 133 were combined supposedly. I look in the timetable, half the 137's start at Sunnybank Hills, Half at Lara Street where the 133 started. The ones that start at Lara Street are almost carbon copies of the previous 133, except that there are fewer of them (I think there was a 133 every 5 minutes off the top of my head).

Is it really true to say that this route has been eliminated? Or has it just been hidden inside a different route number?
Same with the 161. It still runs all the way to the CBD. In practice few people hail it because it is such a rare route and there are so many competing buses this is effectively no change.

I noticed with the 460s, they just kept the 461s but renumbered it 460, thus same number of trips, and even similar times, different route number, but the same route ::).

Does BT really think we are so dumb that we weren't going to pick up on this sooner or later?

Well they assume the general public are.  ::)

If P133 existed in the PM peak, it has been canned though from what I see.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

If this is the case, it'll come back and bite them if (or more likely when) Translink tighten the purse strings even more.

I'm foreseeing either BT having to belatedly accept the Translink Review on risk of losing out to another operator, or them actually losing out altogether. The current situation can't continue indefinitely – there's only so many cosmetic changes they can make before seeing the writing on the wall...

I expect BT to further cut cross-town routes. 369 is living on borrowed time, especially under a network like BCC's which does not support such a route at all. Feeders like the 326/327/336/337 on the northside will all be chopped come the next purse string tighten, as will the span of hours of many routes.

Bus review failure will further engulf suburbs like the Centenary suburbs and routes like the 338 and GCL. Cosmetic changes will be made to rockets in an effort to boost patronage, and areas off the frequent network will have their routes changed or cut entirely. Meanwhile, congestion will start to build on our major arterial roads due to the failure to expand the network, and as such, thousands of people in suburbs such as Chapel Hill, Kenmore and the Centenary suburbs start to drive into the CBD. Congestion engulfs Moggill Road/Coronation Drive and the M5/Milton Road, making bus network meltdown a weekly occurrence. Meanwhile, half-empty trains still fly by due to the failure of BCC to feed railway stations at Darra, Oxley, Indooroopilly and Toowong.

More and more buses need to be ordered and run in peak hour in order to keep up with peak demand, despite the fact these buses lie around doing nothing off-peak. Eventually the bus network begins to crumble under its own weight, unable to withstand the huge demands it places on Brisbane City Council and excessive peak-hour congestion, causing total transit meltdown.

Enjoy your bus network, Brisbane!  :bu

375 - Cut -> instant improvement in patronage on 369.
