612 ABC Breakfast with Spencer Howson

Meet the driver of The Happy Bus!

20 June 2013 , 7:54 AM by Spencer Howson

I tracked down the driver of the Happy Bus!! Remember yesterday I played you some clips of this fella in action. Check out the video here.

His name's John Murdoch and I found him at the Toowong depot yesterday, just as he was starting his shift.

You have to listen to this bloke!! He is so positive about life and with good reason, as you'll hear

I have done a couple for trips with John at the wheel, he sure does liven things up!

He's great. Had him on the 412 to UQ once. He did a lap of the roundabout at Chancellor's Place before someone realised what was up and pressed the next stop button.

Had him a few times on the 362 and 385 as well.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I don't begrudge him his attitude to life and I have seen how good he is with kids,  but frankly I find him irritating whenever he shows up on a bus I'm catching.  There are ways to be cheery and welcoming without overcooking it.  I'm a bit of a grouch though.

Yep, that's what I think too, but then I'm from NSW were such a thing would not go over well.  He'd be told to stop, frankly.  When in Rome...

Not all resonate I agree ... now and again is fine, every trip might get a bit wearying ...

I grew up on the 5'3" and 2' 6" .. so I have a different perspective than most .. lol   :o
