I was spruiked today in the CBD just after I got off at the bus station. They're targeting PT commuters fed up with the fares and long journey times (no doubt something to do with CC congestion perhaps??).

Behold!!

They are handing out flyers at Fortitude Valley as well. They've missed the boat by a few years though!

Haha

Lame marketing campaign

trying to lock people in on a mobile phone style contract...obviously the little attempt to shun people away from weekend pt travel will fail....so they will now attempt to entice the dailiy commuters with this jibberrish.
Must be losing business because so many people are now using the buses from kgsbs and qsbs.
They are trying to push the fact that cars are quicker. Well duuhhh...of course they are. Always have been as far as i know :p

They have an argument on fares however. That being said for people 4 zones inwards...its cheaper for daily commuters to use public transport.
Only really benefits people on the outer burbs.

Fare cost explosion sees private car park operators swoop in on angry commuters

Greetings,

RAIL Back on Track members recently observed private car park operators swooping on public transport commuters in a blitz to take passengers away from the high-fare, low frequency public transport system. We observed commuters being targeted exiting King George Square busway station and we have attached the flyer they handed us (1).

Brisbane's public transport is unaffordable, and private car park operators are now cashing in on public transport commuters' dissatisfaction with the failed fare path. TransLink will lose more fare-paying customers and revenue, leading to more cuts, higher fares and yet even more people leaving the system. This is the 'death spiral'- a direct result of Brisbane City Council's rejection of the TransLink bus review in favour of protecting the BCC hi-waste bus network from fundamental network reform (2).

Brisbane City Council will enact system wide cuts to the bus network in October, the result of its own defective and deficient bus review that was unable to put on even one genuinely new BUZ service, in marked  contrast to the TransLink bus review which would have seen new high frequency services to the Centenary suburbs, Morningside, Yeronga and the Northwest.

In addition, a further trashing of public transport will occur when everyone is asked to pay an extra 7.5% on top of current fares at the end of this year.

It is not long now until passengers revolt at some of the highest fares and highest subsidies in the world for public transport.

Best wishes
Robert
