Cairns Tilt Train Information from 22 July 2013

Cairns Tilt Train services will be not be operating from Monday 22 July 2013 until the return of the refurbished Cairns Tilt Train.

We apologise the Cairns Tilt Train service is unavailable due to the current rollingstock refurbishment program. The refurbished rollingstock and enhanced service will be delivered across 2013 and 2014 and we look forward to welcoming you onto these new services.

For customers wishing to travel on the Cairns Tilt Train Northbound on Fridays and Southbound on Sundays, a replacement service will operate on an altered timetable, providing economy seating and club car access for meals and refreshments.   This service will be available for bookings in Mid April 2013.

I'm getting a bit confused (not hard for me I know) by the whole of Brisbane/Cairns rail outlook.  Can't really see the strategic point in soon having a new Sunlander Tilt (minus sleepers  >:() and CTT.  Surely some type of merger of the two services is inevitable?

The "new" Sunlander, is in my opinion, a step backwards until sleeper capacity is added and it's a total nonsense that the "state of the art" service will commence lacking such a capability.  Particularly given it's value adding!    :ttp:
SEQ, where our only "fast-track" is in becoming the rail embarrassment of Australia!   :frs:

All the current CTTs will be upgraded to the new layout, so in reality the CTT service will disappear and it will be all 'Sunlander' tilt trains.
All opinions stated are my own and do not reflect those held by my employer.
