The official public opening of Bee Gees Way by Barry Gibb CBE will take place on Redcliffe Parade (south of the Hog's Breath Café) at 2pm, Thursday February 14.

The walkway will feature a statue of Barry, Robin and Maurice by sculptor Phillip Piperides as well as photos, captions and stories selected and provided by Barry.

Redcliffe Parade between Baker Street and Humpybong Esplanade will be closed to traffic from 9.30am to 5pm.  Traffic controllers and detours will be in place.  For safety reasons public parking will not be permitted  in this section of Redcliffe Parade for the duration of the road closure.  Signage advising the public of the road closure will be installed.

Visitors are encouraged to travel via public transport with connecting bus services available from Sandgate Station. A free bus shuttle service will also operate from the Redcliffe Showgrounds (vehicle entry via Scarborough Road) to the walkway (Sutton Street) from 11am to 5pm. Motorists are encouraged to avoid Sutton Street due to traffic diversions. Off-street parking areas near the event site are located off Fisher Drive, Humpybong Esplanade and Creek Street, Redcliffe.

Visitors to Bee Gees Way are encouraged to bring water and wear a hat, sunscreen, and garments that protect them from the sun.

Uh-oh, watch out for the "If ya don't like it, leave!" retorts—which provide even more proof of how backwards things truly are.

At least you don't have to bother with plug fuses, I suppose.

Being practical, if you want to make it in the music business, you can't stick around here - you need to be off in the UK or US.

Carter Newell Lawyers in town have a copy of their first ever recording contract displayed on the wall in their reception area, as one of the predecessor firms acted on their behalf.  Apparently they found it in a box somewhere and repatriated the original back to the brothers.

What is the name of the predecessor firm? The genealogy of law firms in today's world of consolidation is most interesting.

^ Not sure.

There are some interesting names which have vanished (eg "Feez Ruthning" which was the predecessor of Allens' Brisbane office).  I come across plenty of ancient names and documents in the course of my work - pretty sure I saw something signed by Clem Jones once.
