Towards the end of his life Clem remarked once that his greatest regret was getting rid of the trams.

There was this mantra at the time that cars were going to the way forward, and every home citizen would have a car etc.  As it has turned out the infrastructure support for the car, and the other broader costs has proven to be a lot more costly than would have been had trams remained.

160 million passengers per year, more than the combined bus and train today ... 

I have no doubt trams will be back in Brisbane one day, as light rail.

I think it's over 170 million for bus + ferry in SEQ today.

Is the <160 million figures excluding Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast?

The tram network was only in Brisbane ......  160 million over 102 route km is pretty impressive ...
