SEQ: Extra Shorncliffe rail services welcomed!

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers has welcomed the introduction of half hourly service on the Shorncliffe line after 10pm Monday to Thursday (1).

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"TransLink have announced four evening extra services on the Shorncliffe line for Mondays through Thursdays (1).  The Minister added that this is designed to help out concert goers at Boondall (2).  RAIL Back On Track applauds both the change and the reasoning.  It is sure to help reduce traffic congestion at Boondall, and making the service full time means people who aren't attending a Boondall concert can use it.  It is also cheaper on a per service basis to add a full time service rather than specials."

"The next thing is on event nights there should be guaranteed connections to the other main lines, particularly Ferny Grove which is only allowed a 2 minute interchange (1, 3) from the 11:14pm ex-Boondall train to the last Ferny Grove line train."

"Upgrading hourly frequency from any line to half hourly is an improvement and commuters are no doubt grateful. Improved event services at Boondall is excellent move."
