South Brisbane riverfront site set for facelift

QuoteTalks are underway to relocate South Brisbane's riverside factories, with a view to developing the site into a "vibrant"  high-quality commercial, retail and residential precinct.

The area, on either side of the Go Between Bridge, comprises about one kilometre of river frontage and more than 25 hectares of land, Brisbane City Council's Neighbourhood Planning Committee chair Amanda Cooper said on Tuesday.

"This project is a unique catalyst renewal precinct and is on a scale not seen by the city since the Teneriffe waterfront revitalisation in the mid to late 1990s," Cr Cooper said.

"...We have a range of exciting opportunities to explore further through more detailed master planning ...

Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

Exactly what Anna wanted to do and she was pilloried by the LNP for suggesting the redevelopment of floodprone land.

Sigh...

Sigh...

That was the LNP calling out the Bligh Government's hypocrisy for stopping the Council's redevelopment of the Howard Smith Wharves due to it being partially flood prone, and then turning around and suggesting "South Bank 2" on land that was no less flood prone (probably even worse, thinking about it).
