More frequent services for Greenslopes Mall

Last updated: 12.45pm Friday 20 July 2012

From Monday 30 July, we're upgrading stops at Greenslopes Mall to service route 180, and the peak hour route P179.

This is great news if you're heading to the city or Garden City!

There will be no timetable changes for these services.

With the high frequency route 180, just turn up and go! The 180 runs every 10 minutes in peak and every 15 minutes off peak.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

Dodgy misrepresentation right there.

"More frequent services" does not mean "upgrading stops".
Grrrr.

I think they are speaking from the perspective of a passenger sitting at the stop - that stop will now have more services, so it is a frequency increase at that location, despite the bus route not having extra services added.

Ah true, while reading it I assumed the 180 already stopped there so I was confused.

My bad.

Adding this extra stop is logical. But in terms of stop spacing and location, it is akin to adding Kismet St to the 222 when it was BUZed. In both cases the new intermediate stop is just walkable to the next inbound stop, but not very convenient. They do, however, break the traditional express stop spacing.

Indeed.  From Buranda, the 180 will move approx 1400m as the crow flies to stop 22, then 700-800m to this new stop 24, then approx 1100m to stop 29.  The 1400m is a fair bit longer in route distance.

Knocking back stop 22 to something on Cornwall St seems more logical to me.

There is also a new stop for the 120 BUZ, 125, 186 on Klumpp Road from Monday, but that's another thread !!
