Travel free to Origin decider

Origin fans can avoid congestion and travel free with TransLink to tonight's State of Origin decider.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Scott Emerson said the Queensland Government's busiest website would also turn a shade of maroon ahead of the decider.

"The maroon TransLink website will help all Queenslanders - and a few NSW fans - to plan their free travel to Suncorp Stadium," Mr Emerson said.

"Fans can use their game ticket for free travel from midday on Brisbane Transport buses and Queensland Rail trains.

"Public transport is the quickest way to travel to big games at Suncorp Stadium, particularly in the early evening when many people are also coming home from work.

"Suncorp Stadium is well serviced by trains within walking distance to Roma Street and Milton train stations and I would urge all footy fans to pre-plan their transport arrangements."

Event shuttle buses will operate from 6pm, departing Carindale bus interchange and Chermside bus interchange approximately every 15 minutes, every 10 minutes from Eight Mile Plains Busway Station and approximately every 30 minutes from Waterworks Road in The Gap.

Shuttle buses will also operate from 6pm departing every five minutes from Adelaide Street stop 45 (opposite City Hall) and Makerston Street outside police headquarters.

Return shuttle buses will run for an hour after the final siren sounds to all destinations.

Additional trains will run to the game and 18 additional trains will be added for the ride home on the Caboolture, Ipswich, Ferny Grove, Shorncliffe, Cleveland, Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines.
