A LANDMARK pact has ensured the birthplace of rail in Queensland will once more be open to the public.

Queensland Rail (QR) and the Australian Railway Historical Society Queensland Division (ARHS) have inked a deal to allow public access to Grandchester Station.

Queensland Rail CEO Kat Stapleton said the 10-year licence of the historical site to ARHS would allow visitors to step back almost 160 years in time each month. ... "
