TO Will Procter, his wheelchair-accessible van is more than a means of transport, it's his connection to normality.

Will, 21, has cerebral palsy and tries to live an active life in his local community by attending Sunshine Coast TAFE at Mountain Creek.

Will is trying to raise money for a new van because his current vehicle is becoming undriveable.

"I've had it since 2007 and it's in urgent need of repairs," he said.

"The availability of my own van allows me to continue to study at TAFE and access the community with greater ease, as it has become very difficult to rely on and use public transport.

"If I don't have access to a van, it's really quite difficult for me to access the community because public transport isn't always cheap.

"It's really beneficial for me to have access to people and get out in the community and be social.

"TAFE has really improved my quality of life. Since I've been at TAFE I've developed quite a close friend base."

Sunshine Butterflies is helping Will with his fundraising efforts and is holding a monster garage sale on Saturday, June 2 from 7am-4pm at the Yandina-Eumundi RSL Hall, Short St, Yandina.

Items for sale included plants, furniture and household goods. Donations of goods are much appreciated.
