Interesting if not sad twitter feed from Team Quirk.

As part of an exchange today they ran down the rail network and refused to acknowledge the bus issues.

Again it reinforces the political nature of Brisbane Transport (BCC) and why it needs to be removed from council control and made to function properly as part of an integrated public transport network.

@Team_Quirk @EmmaJChalmers @mXBrisbane bus delays as well. Bus jam is a daily feature. No shows. Just highlights the base problem.

What about this beauty... 2000 express buses??
One bus every 36 seconds - a bit like Cultural Centre in peak hour, but ALL day. Hard to believe eh? Of course it was - it was fluff!

Expect a ramp-up of politics around BCC buses as the local government election day approaches at end of April.  Just look upon it as council pollies catching rabies six week out from an election.  They appear to be cured after polling day.

The BT bus system as an extension of the politics of BCC, rather than the BCC seeing BT as an important part of an integrated network.  I have spoken to the former lord mayor about rail and that and have explained  that supporting the rail network properly actually improves the bus system as much as the rail system.  Mr Newman used to get upset because non-BCC rate payers were using 'his' buses.  Not much more evidence needed than that why the current BT model needs changing.

It really is time that BT was brought into the wider TransLink as an operator rather than as planner/operator for the political advantage of BCC, for an improved network for true integration.

^^^ Agree. If that was the case, Maroon CityGliders would not happen...

Even if just for the point of view of having clearly defined responsibility.  At the moment it is blurred.

500 new buses for Brisbane eh...At 500k each, that still only 250mil compared to the 773 Million Clem7 got from ratepayers.

And the state paid for them.  Way to give credit where credit is due...
