Hi all,

In the past 2 weeks I have been using my go card and I have been charged 7 times for 'multiple' touches - e.g. Touch off than touch on at the same reader instantly. I am using the readers correctly, I don't have my go card in a wallet, I use the plastic sleeve provided and have never had this problem before.

If I didn't contacted Translink I would have lost $35 from being charged 7 times which makes me think that Translink is stealing. Does anyone else have these issues?

Could you please expand on where you received the fixed fares?  Bus?  Any particular rail stations?

When you sought adjustment for the fixed fares, was there any problem in getting refunds?

Thanks.

No issues in getting refunds, it's just that the issue is occuring more often than it ever has which is inconvenient.

All those charges are for $5.  That means the card is touched on to a train type reader.  Touching on on a bus triggers the fixed fare in this case.

FWIW.

Not if you are a student (Concession).  Then it's $5 for train, $2.50 for buses/ferries.

Oh yeah.  Must have been thinking of when it was still 3/5.

Just a quick question, you are still touching off as normal?  And is it a brand new card, or one you've had for a while?

EDIT: Just taken a closer look at those charges, and it seems strange how it's giving you a $5 fixed fare, whether it's a bus or a train.

ClintonL94

Every trip I take I touch on and touch off even if I see that I've been charged seeing as that counts as a double touch and is a fault.

It is a new adult go card bought in December last year. I had a concession go card before that for about 2 years, I did have a few 'multiple' touch issues although they weren't as frequent as I've had recently.

Those charges on the train station readers would have been from the multiple touches on the bus readers that's why they're $5.

Thanks for sharing that information Clinton.  It is possible the card is faulty, suggest you get another.

A double touch shouldn't result in a fixed fare straight away except when touching off the rear reader of a bus.  If you are touching on, the touch on will merely be cancelled, if touching off, it would touch you back on, unless it is at the rear reader of a bus.

Are you touching on for too long?

I place the card on the reader until I hear the beeps or I see my fare details show on the screen.
