New Teneriffe CityCat terminal opens 23 January!

From Monday 23 January, customers in Teneriffe will have direct access to Brisbane's fleet of CityCats, with the opening of the new Teneriffe CityCat and CityFerry terminal. The new terminal features a covered waiting area and seats, with a sheltered, non-slip gangway, providing safe and easy access for elderly or disabled passengers. Cross River Ferry services between Bulimba and Teneriffe commenced at the new terminal on Wednesday 11 January.  That means customers travelling between Teneriffe and Bulimba have the option of either the CityCat or CityFerry, with over 150 extra services across the river each day.

The new CityCat timetable provides a service every six or seven minutes between 6.30am and 8.30am weekdays for busy terminals between Apollo Road and Riverside, including Bulimba and Hawthorne.  You'll also benefit from an extra express service from Hawthorne to Riverside each morning peak – now at 7.39am, 7.58am, 8.04am and 8.18am.  And if you're heading up river, the new timetable delivers more services from North Quay, Regatta, Guyatt Park and West End to The University of Queensland each morning.

So if you live in or around Teneriffe, you've now got another travel option to and from the city, alongside bus routes 199, 470 and CityGlider.

Check out the new CityCat and CityFerry timetables, effective Monday 23 January.

Teneriffe residents from today will be able to better use the river to commute with the opening of the suburb's new CityCat terminal.

Our reporter Stacey Milner is at the new terminal on Commercial Road this morning. With her is Brisbane City Council's Chair of Active and Public Transport, Cr Julian Simmons, discussing the ferries as well as yesterday's gas explosion at the Zillmere Bus Depot.

Then, Monash University engineer and pressure vessel specialist Dr John Price responds to yesterday's gas tank explosion:

I knew there was something I forgot! I was meaning to catch a citycat down there after work just to check it out.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

POI, in the afternoons 10-20 are using each cityglider and ferry service to get to bulimba rather than the hell on wheels 230
"Where else but Queensland?"

I went down river on a cat this afternoon after work to Teneriffe. Got a full load at Riverside, and left a few behind as the front and rear decks weren't being used.

It is a nice looking terminal, but it performs poorly in the rain!
