Sunshine Coast Line : Delays for JANUARY 2012

January delays thus far ... to SC commuters.

The times reported below do not take into account the 3 minutes and 59 second allowance that QR's service contract to TRANSLink allows.
Further to this contractual allowance, TRANSLink allow trains from the Gold and Sunshine Coasts to be 6 minutes late before being recorded as such.

In my opinion, when the public hear the words "on-time performance" they would assume this means what it says.
But for TRANSLink, the authority tasked with overseeing the public transport system, this is NOT the case and 'spin' is used to obfuscate the truth by changing the definition of 'on-time'.
A Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast train e.g. can be up to 6 minutes late and still be considered 'on-time'.
This of course does wonders for their on-time performance figures.
The times shown below are actual times.

UPDATED DAILY
Before the June 6, 2011 timetable 'improvements', a trip from Palmwoods to Roma Street station, a distance of 97.3 km, took 103 minutes.
Average speed = 56.68 km/h

Today that same trip takes 109 minutes.
Average speed = 53.56 km/h

A 5.83% increase in journey time.

The first regular work day of the new year for many, there were significant delays to services due to a signal fault at Bowen Hills.
Times for delays were reported as ranging (on different services) from 15 to over 30 minutes.
All lines were impacted by this.

Reports received of delays due to signal failure (power issue) at Morayfield, delays of over 15 to 30 minutes.

5:04pm Nambour train left Central station 25 minutes late, arriving at Palmwoods 14 minutes late at 7:02pm
NO ANNOUNCEMENTS WERE MADE FOR THIS DELAY.
No twitter alerts were issued and no eRail alerts issued either.

I am unsure if this event is related to the Morayfield issue above or if it is a separate incident that went unreported.

January 2012 seems to be a good month delay wise for sunshine coast commuters

Hello HBU,

The 2 major delays in the first week of the year are not recorded here, they would possibly have added almost 60 minutes to the total in January.
December 2011 however, is worthy of recognition, showing significant improvement.
