QuoteBetter bus services for Brisbane region

From Monday 20 February 2012, service improvements will be made to some Brisbane region bus services.
Customers using these buses can expect to see a range of new services, bigger buses, improved frequencies and reduced travel times.
The service improvements include:

UQ Lakes bus boost (routes 29 and 209)
Peak services every five minutes servicing Boggo Road busway station and Park Road Rail station, and an additional early morning PA Hospital service.

New bus for Calamvale
New peak service every 15 minutes from Calamvale to CBD via Garden City.

Bigger and more comfortable buses for Brisbane

Bigger buses will be progressively rolled out to make travel easier and more comfortable on some of our most popular routes.

Route 467 to extend to Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre

Route 467 will be extended from DFO Jindalee Village Centre to Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre during peak hours.

Improvements to routes 462, 465 and 466
Improvements to routes will provide more reliable services and better connections to Centenary Village, Archerfield Road, Richlands and Darra stations.

Better bus services for Brisbane's eastern suburbs
Improved service reliability and a new Sunday and public holiday service.

New timetables for Brisbane's southern suburbs
Minor timetable changes to bus services running through Wishart, Mansfield, Mt Gravatt East and Holland Park.

Timetables are currently being updated and will soon be available from the TransLink website in early-mid February.

Please continue to monitor the website for further updates.

Some brief comments:

462
- What is with the massive 1hr 20min service gap between the 5:24am and 6:40am services?
- It is good to see that the pointless loop of the 462 I/B heading back onto Progress Road after Richlands Station then heading onto Archerfield Road removed.

467
- Interesting to see that it will take 50 minutes from Mt Ommaney to Roma St Station. The 456 is 10 minutes quicker (mind you, the 456 only has 2 services during AM and PM each). Luckily the 453 doesn't provide too much competition. I wonder if this would change drastically if the 467 service was routed to Darra Station?

- Where are the extra services that were promised?

QuoteFrom Monday 20 February 2012, route 467 will be extended from DFO Jindalee Village Centre (Windermere bus stop) to Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre.

Following community feedback, this improvement will operate during peak hours only to provide better access for residents and workers in Jindalee, Mt Ommaney and Seventeen Mile Rocks.

Route 467 will also service Jindalee State School and Centenary High School during school hours.

We are also increasing services during morning and afternoon peaks for route 467 to provide better connections to Oxley station. This means Jindalee residents will now have access to rail services at Oxley station for the first time.

More information on these exciting changes will be added over the coming weeks, so keep checking the website for the latest details and new timetables.

Bit tired now, will analyse more timetables tomorrow...

I must have missed where Translink said they were doing those...

On the UQ Lakes routes, good to see them upping the early morning frequency through Boggo Rd. Used to be the 169 at 6.45, then again at 7, before the other routes started. Now there is a 29 at 6.50 and 6.55, and a 209 at 6.53 as well. Probably a bit of overkill at the moment, but we shall see. They do also connect to the PAH, and that first 209, was specifically said to target PAH bound pax.

Leaving UQ, routes 192 and 29 have switched places, giving Boggo Rd bound pax a high frequency stop away from the temptation of jumping on one of the other buses that pull up first. Shall be interesting to see if it works.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Afternoon 192s now leave UQ at :10 and :40 past the hour instead of :00 and :30.

Take note of the 13x monster of a timetable:
138 - http://translink.com.au/resources/travel-information/network-information/timetables/120220-P129,130,131,132,P133,136,P137,138.pdf
They've kicked the 139 off the PDF to keep it no worse than it was.

I can't see that the 138 has a worthy catchment, as feared.  Surely it should run to Parkinson East via Ridgewood Rd if it's to use the Gateway, with a bit of a shake up of the other routes.

Sigh.

10+ routes and a bazillion variations for one area...

Why Ridgewood?
If the 130 goes that way, I am presuming that is where the potential patronage actually is.

I'm wondering about a 137 extension to serve Lakewood.

pangwen

I wouldn't be surprised if the 138 actually has a larger catchment in terms of residents compared to the 130 - the deviation goes past townhouse developments on Algester Road, Formby St, Benhiam St and Nottingham Road. By comparison, the 130 doesn't come close to many townhouse developments in Algester or Parkinson at all.

Couldn't see it in the big list on the TL website, but there is a notice on route 398 and a new timetable, also starting on the 20th. There was an ad in today's NW News.
http://translink.com.au/travel-information/service-updates/bulletin/1327629041
From Monday 20 February, we're introducing a new early morning weekday peak service on route 398 to get you on a train at Ferny Grove station and into the City before 8am.

This new service will leave from Arana Hills K-Mart at 7.09am and arrive at Ferny Grove station at 7.21am, connecting to the 7.26am CBD-bound train and getting you to Central station at 7.56am. We know there's reduced parking at Ferny Grove station while we're building your new Park 'n' Ride facility, so we've introduced this new early morning service to give you an alternative during construction. Be sure to check out the new timetable before catching your bus on Monday 20 February.

"an alternative during construction" - does this mean a temporary service to be removed when completed? I hope not. Maybe it well help some see the benefits of a bus to the station.

Golliwog

Yeah sounds temporary for now, but I think if it is well used like some of the temp services added to the IPS line a while ago it will become permanent. At least until they (hopefully) review the bus routes in the area when the duplication opens...

Caught the 138 yesterday and today, and it's pretty speedy :). Unfortunately, we've had a few confused pax getting on board not knowing where we're going. We had a lady today ask whether we stop at sunnybank hills - we do - but because we approach from Compton road rather than Calam, she didn't press the button and we ended up on Algester Road, where she had to catch a bus back. The driver was also a little hazy on the route, and I ended up guiding him all the way from Quern@Creek in the city to Formby St in Calamvale (unfortunately had to get off after that!).

BrizCommuter

66 full to capacity yesterday, and that's before the students have started uni!
