SEQ: Tennis Centre public transport services not enough to prevent parking trouble

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers calls for improved public transport services to the Tennyson Tennis Centre.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Shuttle bus connections from Corinda to the tennis centre are good, running every 15 minutes in busy times (1).  However, the rail services fall short of the mark. While it is good that Gold Coast trains will serve Yeerongpilly, this still leaves 23 minute gaps in the service in both directions when measured at Park Rd. RAIL Back On Track believes that at least 2 extra services per hour in both directions should be provided to Yeerongpilly at least to reduce these gaps down to 12 minutes.  Arguably, these trains could continue to Tennyson and possibly Corinda."

"It should be noted that this is only really required because the all day frequency is poor.  If the plan previously advanced by RAIL Back On Track (2) had been proceeded with, it would be sufficient to merely stop the express trains at Yeerongpilly."

"It is because of the poor rail services that many people are continuing to park illegally (3, 4)."
