In a DOO world, stations like Gaythorne and Indooroopilly could be manned with "station guard(s)" due to the curves.  Not sure how many there are.  Far better than the 2 man crew operation.

CCTV would be used instead. There are far sharper platform curve radii on London Underground (Bank - Central Line), and Paris Metro (Bastille - Line 1). Both are over 100 years old, have DOO, and use CCTV. In fact the latter has just been converted to driverless operation, with platform edge gates, CCTV (from control room), and laser sensors.

Not a fan of this idea of closing stations simply because they are close together.

For one, Oxford Park has excellent walk-up patronage and to propose new bus services in lieu of saving two minutes just isn't economically sound in my book.

I also oppose closing Gaythorne as again it is virtually all walk-up patronage and to loose that would be a big step backward. Forcing pax to use Enoggera isn't ideal for reasons mentioned previously by Golliwog and the fact that the walk would be almost 1km from residences towards the end of Mott St (Which has a considerable number of apartment complexes and therefore, a sizable population). The 390 is not a good alternative as it is considerably slower in peak and would require a significant frequency boost to accommodate the additional pax.

While I'm at it, I don't think its fair to make comparisons to the Mandurah line. By in large the area surrounding the line is a lot less densely populated than what is along most of the rail lines in Brisbane, and relies heavily on Park 'n' Ride patronage so the longer station spacing is justifiable.

Agree.

The only station closures south of Caboolture that I see as defensible are Bindha and Gailes.  Where's the advantage to closing Holmview?  Faster for people heading from Kuraby to Beenleigh?  Can't imagine there's too many of them - they'd be outnumbered by those actually using Holmview.  A new Salisbury could close Rocklea, but I'm not aware Salisbury is planned to be relocated.

Re-routing the Ferny Grove line to be more direct would change things, but I think that is a bit of a foamer fantasy.
