The new goal is 310,000 by the end of the financial year (June 30, 2012)

From Brisbane Times -> http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/transport-on-track-despite-7m-fare-revenue-cut-20111103-1my1n.html

QuoteMs Palaszczuk said the $6.7 million reduction in expected fare revenue would not affect its ability to provide the previously announced 310,000 additional weekly seats this financial year.

Stickied.

How many seats for the BUZ 100 & 180?

david

New seats to 1 November 2011:

Eastern Busway Improvements (BUZ 222, 590, 29, etc.) - 100,000 new seats (http://translink.com.au/about-translink/reporting-and-publications/media-releases/release/346)

October 31 changes (BUZ 180/ BUZ 100/ Park Ridge changes) - 62,000 new seats (http://translink.com.au/about-translink/reporting-and-publications/media-releases/release/415)

Total seats to 1 November 2011: 162,000 new seats.

The cynic in me says that the 29 can't go until after July 2012 as it is a cheap method of providing seats.  Saw a bendy 29 heading towards UQ with one person on it shortly after 5pm last night.

Universities are coming into their exam periods ....  is it the UQ pre-exam study week?

310,000 should be easily achievable. Not sure if we'll get quite as many train seats in the stage 2 timetables as the stage 1 did (roughly 150,000 wasn't it?). Though, thinking about it, those aren't expected this financial year are they, unless it goes through much faster than last time. More buses anyone?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

That's what I'm thinking.  BUZ 330 should be happening, but they need 4 other BUZ routes to meet the target by my reckoning.  Here's my suggestion:
425
110 - extended to Richlands
2x Centenary
Extra 350/359 trips for a 4/hour service Enoggera-Rode Rd.

Although bringing in the 15 minute Richlands trains + Ipswich express would get pretty close to the mark.

Might also be a redo of the Ferny Grove routes during construction which could then become permanent. I know they're looking at putting on more 399s, not sure about what else though. I just hope they give the 362 something, it'd mean I might be able to not drive to the station which'd be great. In the Western corridor, I think there needs to be serious consideration given to terminating more routes at Indro (even if theres only the current poor link to the train station). There are far too many routes running along Moggill Rd and Coro Drive. Depending on demand, obviously in peak more routes can continue to the city, but certainly off-peak theres very little point in running so many buses with half a dozen passengers in each.

I don't have a copy of the old timetables for Sector 1, but for those in the know, how many 'extra' services, in real terms, did we get out of the changes ?
Obviously it was primarily an exercise in just spacing trains more evenly and a rationalising of stopping patterns etc.

I know the midday Gympielander is one major extra, and I'm sure FF can advise on what else the SC got extra out of it.

But for the other lines? I don't think Shorncliffe got extra, and it just had a long gap moved elsewhere in the evening.

How would services to and from Richlands be counted? Were they more extensions of Corinda terminators and starters in peak?

Just trying to formulate a good spin defence.
I anticipate that whenever we push for frequency , the government will revert back and say "We've just had the largest timetable overhaul in 10 years yada yada yada....so we aint doing nothing "

Oh translink, when will you learn your predictable responses actually make it easier for us to find holes in your arguments.

The Caboolture/Ipswich line got a couple extra services but those were a result of selected services losing 3 cars to form a new service (there used to be an ex-Caboolture train that ran 3 cars around 10ish which was crazy lol) while they fine tunned it and by shuffling around the RS/BH terminators to other lines ie Nambour to Richlands or to send them express to counter peak traffic jams ie Petrie :P

But a lot was just service pattern modifications.

Gaz, SC initially got one extra service (each way) in the morning and afternoon peaks on June 6.

1 extra service was brought online on July 11, for a total of 1 extra morning peak service (1x 6-car) and 2 afternoon peak services (1x 3-car and 1x 6-car).

Apart from the new daytime Gympie service, the rest of the weekday Off-peak was just shuffling of the trains and narrowing the off-peakgap to every 90 minutes.

Some off-peak services were increased from 3-car to 6-car as a result of the 6-car units being required for the afternoon peak back to Nambour, and one 6-car unit now operates a Nambour to Ipswich service in afternoon peak.

Weekend services increased marginally by the 90 minute gap.  Can't recall the extra units but I think it was 2 or 3 new services for the weekend. I think SW or FF may be able to clarify on the weekend numbers.

Tally Update: 1 January 2012

Total seats to 1 November 2011: 162,000 new weekly seats.

Plus new seats:
Route 740: 19,000 new seats (http://translink.com.au/about-translink/reporting-and-publications/media-releases/release/420)
New 7pm Doomben service: 2,250 new seats (http://translink.com.au/about-translink/reporting-and-publications/media-releases/release/427)

Total seats to 1 January 2012: 183,250 new weekly seats

With the 140,000 new weekly seats announced on Friday by the minister, the 310,000 new seat target will be passed quite comfortably.

STB

@Gazza - Shorncliffe wasn't part of the phase 1 timetables so no extras were added, only Ipswich, Rosewood, Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines.
