Sleigh out late with NightLink

Friday 2 December 2011

From tonight, TransLink is doubling the number of late night NightLink bus services from The Valley and the Brisbane CBD to help ensure Christmas revellers and shoppers have regular buses to get them home safely.

TransLink Acting CEO Matt Longland said NightLink buses would run every 30 minutes from tonight until Christmas Eve (December 24) from Brisbane's two major entertainment precincts.

"Christmas is a busy time of the year with people getting out and celebrating later than they normally would and NightLink buses are a safe, reliable and affordable way to get home," Mr Longland said.

"NightLink buses will be more convenient than ever with more than 144 nightly buses running across 16 of our routes, departing between 1am and 5.30am on Friday and Saturday nights."

NightLink stops are easy to find, with all services except N199 (New Farm to City to West End) departing from the Valley Metro stop in Fortitude Valley. Route N199 buses depart from Anne Street, near Birdee Num Num.

In the city, NightLink buses depart from Eagle Street, near Jade Buddha, and George Street, near the Treasury Casino. Route N199 buses depart from Adelaide Street, near City Hall.

Mr Longland said the extra NightLink buses are ideal for those planning to do their late night Christmas shopping during the extended shopping hours in the Brisbane CBD on December 23.

"Customers doing their late night shopping can choose to stay on and enjoy the late night festivities on offer in the CBD if they wish, before catching a NightLink bus to get home safely," he said.

"Public transport takes the hassle out of Christmas shopping, allowing you to sit back and relax as someone else does the driving.

"There are more than 700 bus routes across the south east that connect to major shopping precincts and centres, usually dropping you right at the front of the shops."

For timetable and service information or to plan your trip visit the TransLink web or mobile site, www.translink.com.au, or phone the Call Centre on 13 12 30, anytime.

And there is no specific details of what extra services they are offering for the Christmas period.

Also, when will BUZ 100 and 120 and the many other upgraded routes receive Nightlink services, that's overdue also. Even 184 has a nightlink service, their special treatment really rankles me.

N184 over the festive season is more frequent than the 184 during the day  :-r

@ SiT, isn't there already an N100?

We need an N120, N150 and N180 (replace N184  ::))

Higher patronage at 2am obviously  :D
I don't doubt that there is indeed higher patronage on the N184 than the daytime 184.  Look at the alternatives!

N100 has been around for ages.

Cam

For the hundreds of thousands of people who live in suburbs around the Ipswich, Caboolture & Beenleigh Lines, the title should read "Sleigh out really late & make sure you don't miss the only NightLink service shortly before 4am or you will be sleighing out really, really late." ;D
