222 - Is it an air parcel service?

When I've observed this service, it seems to be carrying far less people, even heading inbound, than what even I expected.

What have others seen?

I've seen decent loads during the evening peak period, even counter peak. A few people get on/off at the new stations (bit like a suburban stop).

Had a good load the one time I took it Stones Corner -> CC

Had a near fully seated load on the 222 when I caught it the other day from Cultural Centre - Carindale after uni (approx 4:30pm).

It's still a brand new route, give it a few months then judge it.

2 or 3 people on it last night at around 9pm O/B arriving at the Cultural Centre.  3-4 got on.  Compared to the 454 I used which had about 20 arriving at the Cultural Centre (again a few got on the 454).

Maybe I don't see it when it is busy.

Friend of mine who catches buses at Stones Corner (when he has the misfortune of not having a car) has observed high numbers of full 222s in the peak.

I tend to agree that the network resources could be used elsewhere (eg along Chatsworth Road).

Set in train

Was doing well on a Friday lunchtime outbound a few weeks ago. Likewise inbound prior to 3pm, only filled to bulging with schoolchildren when close to town.

I must admit, I wouldn't mind seeing route 205 becoming a full time service along Chatsworth Rd, you could then properly review routes 202 and 203.

I/B or O/B?  I don't doubt that the route does OK I/B.

Not on the current stopping pattern though.  In peak it is OK as the 208 serves the inner part: Chatsworth Rd, but not off peak.

I/B.  No doubt in my mind that this could be solved with some extra rockets instead of not having a BUZ on Chatsworth Rd.

The eastern suburbs are currently a bit compromised because higher capacity vehicles at Garden City cannot be used to set down at the 200 stop in the QSBS.  Something that can be fixed if needed, but those vehicles are pretty well committed elsewhere anyway.
