That's like saying, why would anyone run a Skybus to the CBD to the airport when there already is a train.

All BCC needs to do is run the numbers to see if it will be viable without subsidy.

369 operates in a different catchment area. As does the GCL. 369 doesn't need to stop at DFO, it can go directly to the Airport. So that solves the T bus issue.

The second thing is a Taxi/Uber from Toombul to Domestic is about $30. A commercial rate bus fare connecting 369 with full cost pass-though would be less than that IMHO.

Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

Didn't the 369 initially run at every 15mins?
Doesn't help that the 321 sometimes runs only a few minutes after the 369 at times  :bg:

Now you've made the route from Toombul to the airport which is slower than the train just up the road. And you've removed the big patronage factor of dfo.

Yes and it was a total air parcel west of Toombul. Still is. Patronage wasn't high enough for a dfo only service along with other resources. This was a brisbane transport decision. Not a translink decision to reduce services.

HTG, 369 doesn't currently serve DFO anyway. It terminates at Toombul.

I know. Apologies I thought I read extend the 369 to dfo then to airport. Which you have mentioned in other discussions previously regarding airport extensions.

369 used to go to dfo on a buz like frequency but was cut back to 30 mins and terminated at Toombul during bt's own network review (the original 369 was a translink provided service but during the review given over to by/bcc they had to make do with the same amount of funding and redesign their network. To keep costs down 369 had service cuts due to low patronage). Toombul-dfo was then merged into the gcl route.

Brisbanetimes --> AirTrain banks on Brisbane traffic to derail SkyBus arrival $

QuoteAirTrain is banking on Brisbane's peak-hour traffic congestion to convince travellers to stick with rail travel after this week's introduction of SkyBus services to Brisbane Airport.

SkyBus began running services between the Brisbane Airport and the CBD every two hours this week, with plans to drastically increase the frequency.

The privately-owned AirTrain runs a direct link to the CityTrain network.

AirTrain chief executive Chris Basche said, unlike taxis, ride-share providers and the new bus service, the train would not be impacted by Brisbane's traffic congestion.

Mr Basche said AirTrain saw no need to reduce its fare, or engage in an "airport fare war", to compete with SkyBus' $15 one-way fare to and from the airport.

"Our fares are the same as SkyBus," he said.

"If you book online, they are exactly the same. AirTrain is a journey that takes only 20 minutes to get into the city and we are every 15 minutes, so from that point of view, it stands up for itself." ...
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

More of a reason for the Gold Glider to go to Skygate.

More reason to actually know your market.
