Platform confusion - musical platforms

This morning on 612 ABC Breakfast with Spencer Howson, Spencer reported seeing passengers left behind at Taringa over the weekend due to trains running on the mains (Ipswich line).  Apparently no signage.  There was a short discussion with a number of listeners who rang in, including myself.  Spencer reported that PD Scurrah had been  in touch and was going to ensure follow up.

This has been an issue for many years.  Must admit surprised no signage at Taringa.  Voice announcements can be indistinct and absent.  I have seen passengers left behind numerous times.  Stations with PIDs are generally not an issue if pax alert.  Sometimes trains are held to allow pax to make it, sometimes they are not ...

Happens north of Brisbane as well.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

Set in train

Why don't those inadvertently waiting on the wrong platform call out to the guards to hold until they make it onto the right platform? Isn't the new QR all about better customer service? I have successfully done similar at Bowen Hills.

They can sometimes but other times they have to keep to their assigned schedule as PT is now intergrated with each other and it has to meet with other trains and bus connections along the line. Like the 340 at Carseldine station. The bus will wait for you but if the train is 2 mins late it leaves without you.
