TransLink boss resigns

ABC News BNE 27 March 2008

The general manager of south-east Queensland's public transport authority has resigned.
Queensland Transport says Luke Franzmann has resigned from the role he had held with TransLink for three years, to pursue other career opportunities.

Mr Franzmann was responsible for implementing the Go-Card ticketing system which was rolled out in February after being on the drawing board for more than five years.

Queensland Transport's acting director-general John Glaister says it was a great achievement, given that many other public transport systems around Australia are still struggling to introduce similar technology.

Must say I am not surprised as the TTA will be starting soon.

RAIL Back On Track wishes you all the best for the future Mr Franzmann, and the public transport commuters of SEQ appreciate your efforts.

Mr Franzmann met with us in November 2007, and gave us the opportunity to present suggestions for improvements to the Go card.  Some of those were achieved, the fare structure though still remains the sticking point.

Perhaps less than charitable but maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel, a process that a few more empty chais might accelerate.
Big question is will his replacement be any better from the commuters point of view,
Will his sucessor communicate giving facts instead of spin and will the Toy Trains Almost (sorry Translink Transit Authority) resolve the problems with the Go Card and Public Transport particularly in the South East Queensland area.
We can but hope.
Cheers.
