Brief Critique:
Ipswich all to Corinda then South Bank.  :-t  :-t
Richlands all to Corinda then South Bank.  Might be overkill
Nerang all to Sth Bank ???
South Bank all to Nambour.  What's that?

After event services.  What's an express?  At least they don't have the often done Park Rd express to Woodridge then all to Varsity Lakes.
It's a shame that none of the after event trains are using the Tennyson loop.

Whats the point of listing 333,345,385,150,200 when every 15mins is their normal frequency?? or will buses be every 7.5mins? lol

I believe that is what is meant.

Still annoying that extras aren't in the journey planner, as is done in NSW.  Vic and WA at least present a link when there is trackwork, rather than asking commuters to do there own research to see if trackwork (or another interruption) will affect them.

Just a thought I had the other day. I know they can't run the Citycats during the fireworks and all that, but would there be a market to use them to have people watching the display from on the river (pretty sure others come up and watch from their yachts?) Obviously not full as you wouldn't get a good view from inside, and you wouldn't be able to charge much, but for those who aren't willing to turn up at lunch time just to get a 'good' seat to watch from maybe be willing to pay a little to get a good view.

Interesting they chose 200 rather than 222, although that may be because qsbs is closer to the rover than kgsbs.

Quick off-topic question,

I work at a certain shopping complex in West End after hours, I'm on 5pm-9pm tomorrow. Do you reckon it is even worth it attempting to find parking? We have a 2 level carpark and on most Saturdays it's pretty full, with some spaces spare on the bottom level. During Paniyiri it was chokers with people parking ( >:D). Buses will probably be full going there and coming back too  ::). Should I bother driving or just take the bus do you reckon? Do people generally park in West End to go to Riverfire? They could take the 199 in from there I guess.

I don't know, haven't been around South Bank looking at parks during Riverfire. Though I'd hazard a guess and assume it would be best to catch a bus, though they would be pretty busy as well.

There was a long list of service alterations for tonight up on the TL website, not sure if its still there. SE busway being re routed via the Grey st bridge was one of the main ones. Ended up in the middle of it on my way home, buses parked chockers on Nth Quay between Adelaide and Ann streets (both lanes), as well as between Adelaide St and the QSBS portal (2 of the 3 lanes) and on Adelaide St from Nth Quay to George St (3 layers).

Media release 4th September 2011

SEQ: Special event public transport services good, but some further improvements needed

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers thanks TransLink and public transport operators for their efforts with the Riverfire passenger demands and special events generally. Some tweaking of services is needed though to optimise the utility of the public transport network under heavy loadings.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Currently train services to and from events such as Riverfire or special events generally stop at all stations, even when heading as far as Ipswich or Caboolture.  More trains should have express stopping patterns to improve journey times and reduce crowding as is done in normal weekday peak times. This also applies to the Gold Coast trains which have their express pattern reduced from normal rather than utilise the third track to Kuraby."

"RAIL Back on Track welcomes the fact that some trains to Riverfire from Ipswich ran express Corinda to South Bank via Tennyson.  The limitation with this was that no such express patterns applied returning from the event, and interchange at Roma St for an all stopping train was enforced."

"Additionally those heading to special events who check TransLink's website more than a few days in advance are asked to check closer to the event to see the information about additional trains.  There doesn't appear to be any reason why special train information cannot be provided with more notice, especially given that the bus information is shown.  Similarly, these trains are not shown in the journey planner as they would be in other jurisdictions such as NSW.  This generally results in severe overloads on the regularly scheduled services and lighter loads on the special services."

"Early and timely publicity helps folks plan out their travel options. Better publicity concerning the free travel option on the return leg after Riverfire would have also assisted those working out their best travel plans for the event."
