SEQ: Inner Northern Busway delays, extend extend ..

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers has called for an extension of a number of bus routes to serve QUT Kelvin Grove and Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) between Roma St and RBWH.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"There is much anecdotal evidence that the current arrangements on the Inner Northern Busway do not have sufficient capacity for much of the day."

"Reports of passengers waiting to board  full buses for 30 minutes and longer has turned people against public transport.  While RAIL Back On Track still believes that extending the 393 to Roma St would be helpful (1), it is likely that more needs to be done."

"Extending the 111 bus route, which is normally operated with high capacity buses to Royal Brisbane Hospital would add only slightly to operating costs as there is no turnaround facility at Roma St and would provide much needed capacity between Roma St and Royal Brisbane Womens Hospital (2).  Similarly bus 222 can also be extended from Roma St. Another option would be extending to 111 to QUT Kelvin Grove."

"Ongoing delay for most of the last 3 years on the Inner Northern busway is not world class. There are several possible solutions which could be implemented relatively easily which are not being actioned. Why hasn't this been resolved?"

"Another option for peak hour only is placing the out of service buses, particularly from the 331, 332, 341 bus routes into service between Roma St and Royal Brisbane Hospital (3)."

"Action, not more spin please!"

Reports of a 25 minute wait to board a bus at Roma Street towards RCH/RBWH this morning. Multiple full outbound 66 and 3xx buses.

More evidence of why action is needed!
