SEQ: PM peak rocket buses not pulling their weight

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers calls for a review of the effectiveness the PM peak rocket bus services

Robert Dow, Spokesperson for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Anecdotal evidence suggests that the lions' share of these routes go out with below par loadings for peak hour.  RAIL Back On Track believes this is because many people do not know where to find them.  This is the situation for most of the rocket services for destinations within the BCC area, except for the west which has the rockets mostly stopping in the same places as the full time services, although this occurs at the cost of a somewhat torturous route from Queen St Bus Station via George St rather than using the Go Between Bridge."

"Adelaide St bus stop 48 is also not conveniently located within the CBD, which exacerbates this effect in that even some of those that know where it is find it easier to get the full time route from Queen St Bus Station.  There has been vigorous discussion on the RAIL Back On Track forum (1) on these matters.  Similarly, the via Spring Hill services (331, 332, 341) to Chermside and beyond does not have a convenient stop on Elizabeth St before Edward St.  Finally, the Charlotte St starters (343, 363, 376, 382, 383) do not serve George St stop 116."

"Brisbane Transport has numerous empty buses, it also has numerous under loaded buses. A review of peak hour rocket bus services to improve legibility will improve loadings and utility to the travelling public."
