IPSWICH school students have combined with artists to create a Tree of Life mural that is sure to brighten up the subway walls of the Bundamba train station.

Designs for the subway were produced by indigenous elder and artist Lloyd Hornsby, with input from 30 Bundamba Secondary College students from years 10 to 12.

Ipswich MP Rachel Nolan said the 69sq m Bundamba mural was a credit to the artists and students involved.

"Stretching at such a large scale through the subway, the mural aesthetically enhances Bundamba station and the local community should be proud of the work that has gone in to creating it," she said.

Ms Nolan said the mural was part of a $1.1 million revamp of the station, which included toilet upgrades, new seating and signage, and upgraded CCTV.
