Quote20 years on, Brissie to the Bay is bigger than ever!

Brisbane's biggest charity bike ride will mark its 20th birthday this year and expects to attract the largest field of participants ever, raising vital funds for people living with multiple sclerosis.

When the Brissie to the Bay ride launched in 1991, a modest 80 participants took part.  How it's grown – last year, more than 4000 riders descended on South Brisbane at dawn completed one of three distances.

This year, we expect in excess of 5000 participants and hope to raise an incredible $500,000.

We also have some very exciting new course developments including a new 100km course.

But it's not just serious cyclists who take part in Brissie to the Bay:

The 10km route is a favourite with families, and the 25km distance provides an enjoyable scenic ride. The ride's 50km route is the classic Brissie to the Bay ride and this year the 100km distance will add an exciting new challenge.

The diversity of participants is one of the things that makes the ride so popular.  Best of all, a number of people with MS are able to take part – there really is a distance for everyone!

I am helping out in the main recovery area at West End this morning.  Say hello!

Very successful event today, around 4,600 cyclists.  Perfect weather for such an event, there were 10, 25, 50 and 100km rides, and all for a good cause.
