Sorry to hear about the crash and hope the people make a quick recovery, but are the CM serious about that picture? Every time I see the Sunlander it's being towed by some old diesel.

That is an artist's impression of the new tilt for the Sunlander.  The train today involved in the level crossing incident was loco hauled.

In other words the picture represents false reporting. A bit like showing a photo of Megan Gale and saying "Julia Gillard seen here in a bikini"  >:D
Well what else can you expect from the dear old CM.

There was a recent discussion somewhere on why newspaper journalists upset gunzels.  Pictures of incorrect trains and consists is one of the things that gets them cranky ..

Hey, at least its a QR train!

A couple of weeks ago they used a picture of an Adelaide 2000 class railcar for an article about an incident at Murphy's Creek.

Good old CM.  ::)

Go to their home page, and you are confronted with ...

Crews inspect horror Sunlander crash

and just so you don't miss the HORROR aspect:

QuoteQUEENSLAND Rail crews are inspecting damage sustained to its Sunlander train after a horror smash on a level crossing in North Queensland.

At this point I was expecting news of carriages & bodies strewn across the landscape, but ...

QuoteOne person on board the train was taken by road to Ingham Hospital with neck and shoulder injuries.

Two people, a passenger and the driver of a truck which collided with the train, have been airlifted to Townsville Hospital for treatment with significant injuries.

I therefore conclude the headline should be

Muppet in truck gets smashed by Sunlander

No disrespect to the train passenger who was injured, but isn't it about time we started reporting these things as they really are.

There was quite extensive damage done to the truck from what I hear. The whole cab was seperated and ripped from the chasis of the truck and was thrown to the side. It also sounds like you took the inspecting quote out of context as they would have been assessing damage to the borrowed QRN loco that hit the truck, damage done to other carriages, trackside equipment and an accident report about what happened as is the case with every incident with a train.

Maybe the headline should be:
Muppet in truck damages Sunlander and endangers own life also!

How so?  I quoted exactly what the CM wrote at the time. Or did you mean the CM took it out of context? (No great surprise there).

Ouch!  I'm amazed anyone in that truck survived.

Ah, I see now.  Yes i guess that was somewhat out of context, although that photo was not available when I wrote my snark at the CM.  I still believe they went for the "shock horror" angle 'though. (Mind you, it is hard for me to take anything the CM does seriously).
