Queensland Rail is seeking full cost recovery from drivers that hit boom gates. Guess there isn't enough prevention/deterrent so Queensland Rail is stepping up.

They've been doing that for a while now. Their pretty hard to fight if the police investigation into the incident rules against them stating that they were responsible.

Good on them.  Good that its reported too.  Perhaps this will help reduce these incidents and therefore the disruption.

Now if QR realy gets serious about this AND ensures that the public is fully aware of in each incident the actual costs recovered it will have a deterent effect, otherwise it will amount to nothing more than a smack on the wrist with a wet tissue.
