Queensland Rail put on an extra passenger train from Bundaberg <-> Brisbane for the State of Origin Football game.

Hauled by 1720 DEL the service was well patronised from observer reports.  Good move Queensland Rail. From little things big things grow.

Not sure of the number of carriages.  Any one know?

The fact that it was well patronised means that it was advertised well. Was there a return trip as well?
In any case. Great news!

ozbob

Yes, the return trip had a few sore heads .. lol

Been advised that train was a single loco and 5 carriages.   :-t

Sounds like an ideal consists for a daily Maryborough service (straight into the old town station via the branch). Bring back the Maryborough Mail!  :pr

Victoria brought back trains to Maryborough, we should too :)

Yes, single loco, Power Car, 3 passenger cars, Baggage car (or power car... not a passenger car at least!)
All opinions stated are my own and do not reflect those held by my employer.

I think a Maryborough service should be run with ICE consists where possible, and return the galley car.

Also I don't think the cost can be measured in purely dollar values, consider also the benefits of not having fatigued and possibly drunk people undertake a 4-5 hour drive late at night after a rugby league match.

Oh absolutely, just curious as to how much they charged people for the trip is all.
